Final Blog!!

This was the most informative Literature classes I have ever had, the only this that angered me was that it seemed a little repetitive. For instance, I can’t explain how much we discussed plentitude and conformity entirely too much. I also wished spend less time on some subjects and even the discussion time out and talked about some of the other literature more. However, the group discussions helped me to gain a critical eye. Others opinions and views would help me to understand and think about the literature differently. It was interesting to hear how someone’s thoughts were completely different from yours. Especially the novel Culture Jam made me realize that the economy has a huge impact on today’s society. Also I looked at aspects that I would have never thought of before. For example, are some things just good for us to know or learn and are we the laziest/dumbest generation. Second skins as showed me a different side of the virtual world and how obsessive people could get. Also I analyzed the fact that the addiction was unhealthy mentally and physically. Each piece of literature educated me and taught me to go beyond the text and seek out the message that was trying to be sent. Overall I enjoyed that class and was educated with various amounts of information. It was a pleasure to have this course for my general education reguirement.

  1. I believe that the small group discussions were helpful but I do think the class got somewhat repetitive. Especially when it came to Culture Jam in my opinion.

  2. I agree, we didnt just read the books we discussed them and what they meant. I feel the small groups help us out a lot. The class was repetitive but I think that is was so we would get to the point of realizing it is impotent to read.

  3. The books and works we went over in this course were very dramatic but i do think this was the aspect that help spark good communication. This books worked with big topics of conformity, censorship, addiction and big business. Most of the stories were a stretch from what would really happen in the future. However i believe that the authors did this to open the readers eyes so that similar effects are prevented.
